Recently, he attended Caravan 2024 and shared his inspiring stories with BougeRV.
How did you get into nature photography?
Nate: I grew up in the mountains and have always loved the outdoors, so it was natural for me to fall in love with activities like hiking and skiing. I started taking a camera with me during these adventures. Gradually, this hobby turned into paid gigs. One thing led to another, and I was fortunate enough to become a full-time photographer. It’s been eight incredible years now.
When did you start your van life?
Nate: In 2019. At that time, van life was popular but not as widespread as it is now. It's amazing how much it's grown, thanks to innovative companies like BougeRV producing fantastic products!
What inspired you to buy a van as a photographer?
As a photographer, I often had to wake up at 3 a.m. in a hotel, drive for hours to get to my shooting locations. Having a van saves me those precious couple of hours every day. I've also been working with The Journal of Lost Time as the Creative Director. Hosting big van life events like this one has been part of a long and rewarding journey. When I look back, it's fun to see how everything has come together.
What are some products that interest you as someone living in a van and constantly on the road?
Reliability is crucial for me. Nothing frustrates me more than when something doesn’t work as it should. This extends to the people I work with too. I appreciate both individuals and products that consistently do their job day in and day out. For example, I recently installed something in my van that blew the fuses yesterday, and now I have to go back and fix it. THAT DRIVES ME CRAZY. It is crucial to pick a gear that is dependable and reliable.
You saw the Rocky refrigerator on Caravan. What do you think about this product?
This is a Beast! I love how it looks and the battery attached is sweet. I think it is a great gear for my van. Definitely recommend it
